SolarEdge inverters are designed for safety.

Traditional inverter disconnect switches terminate current between roof and inverter, leaving modules and cabling energized during daylight. However, when SolarEdge inverters are off, Power Optimizers reduce module voltage to a touch-safe 1V.

SolarEdge inverters are designed to identify arcs and shut down, in compliance with the UL1699B arc detection standard. Traditional inverters may require third-party detectors, potentially adding cost, without compliance certainty.

Stadiums are increasingly going solar to power their massive electricity needs with sustainable energy. This is what drove Washington D.C.’s Audi Field, home to D.C. United, to install a PV system.

A Winning Team with SolarEdge

With the task of installing a canopy system, New Columbia Solar turned to SolarEdge solutions for its engineering and design flexibility. SolarEdge’s solutions allowed engineers to optimize roof space, reduce cables, combiner boxes and achieve lower balance of system (BoS) costs. In addition, the system’s built-in SafeDC™ feature automatically reduces DC voltage to touch-safe levels during grid failures, providing maximum protection to the stadium.


The new SolarEdge PV system can potentially reduce the stadium’s grid dependency by approximately 30% annually, while saving ~$30,000/year on utility bills. It will also reduce CO2 emissions by 556 metric tons annually – the same amount of electricity required to power 95 homes for a year – creating a healthier environment for stadium visitors and locals.

Solar for Self-Consumption of Manufacturing Plants

To achieve maximum self-consumption from their PV installation, Bizzotto, a family-owned furnishings manufacturer in Italy, chose SolarEdge, the solution designed to extract more energy from solar modules.

Enabling higher energy production  

Shade from nearby electrical wires could have significantly reduced the amount of power the system generated. However, SolarEdge enables maximum power point tracking per module, instead of per string, increasing overall production.

The SolarEdge Designer software illustrated the system performance potential at the proposal stage, giving customers confidence to move forward. The Monitoring Platform relays precise, module-level data in real-time, enabling performance tracking and remote diagnostics. increasing system uptime and annual yield. Proprietary SafeDC™ automatically brings the array to touch-safe levels when the grid or inverter shuts down, protecting the people, facility, and machinery during an emergency.


According to the simulation, the system produces 506.53 MWh of solar energy per year, avoiding 129,67t of CO2 emissions, which is the equivalent of planting 5,956 trees. Installing a SolarEdge system allows business owners to harness more power from their system, reduce electricity costs and embrace a more sustainable way of operating their business.

As a growing supermarket with rising electricity costs, Supermercado Cristal in Brazil was looking for a way to reduce their monthly overhead while encouraging sustainable energy.

Supermercado Cristal selected SolarEdge’s DC optimized PV solution because of the complex roof layout, including the inclinations and shaded areas that had been created as the supermarket expanded over the years. These areas would not have been possible to install modules with a traditional PV system due to module-level mismatch.  

SolarEdge was the right solution because of its superior design flexibility. With SolarEdge, Supermarket Mercado was able to place 36 modules on one string, as opposed to 20 modules per string with a traditional inverter- efficiently making use of the full rooftop space. Ultimately, the supermarket increased the number of modules on the roof by 20% by using SolarEdge, resulting in greater energy production and lowering electricity costs.
